What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Manager K-12 Schools position at Triton Construction?
Triton is seeking goal-oriented individuals with a college degree in Architecture, Engineering, or other similarly educated individuals with equivalent work experience. The candidate will be able to execute administrative and technical duties consistent providing Construction Management Consulting Services in a public school construction setting. Candidates will be required to demonstrate the tools, skills, and experience necessary to manage separate Contractors to successfully complete quality projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with Contract Documents. Demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting with Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Architects, Engineers, School Officials (District Superintendents, Business Officials, Buildings and Grounds, Faculty, Board Members), and other stake holders. Good written and verbal communication skills are critical since individuals will need to produce meeting minutes, official correspondence, chair meetings, and present reports in public.
Candidates must be self-starters willing and able to work alone. They will be required to read and interpret Requests for Information (RFIs), Drawings and Specifications, respond to Contractor claims, and be proficient in the use of computer programs that will be required to manage the process (Procore Information Management, Primavera, Microsoft Project scheduling, etc.). Awareness of safety and security priorities inherent in the K-12 market.
The individual will be the primary point of contact working with Architect, Contractors, and Owner to manage the timely flow of information, bulletins, submittals, shop drawings, sketches, change orders, field directives, and general correspondence. The Project Manager is also responsible for budget and cost control and must be well versed with computer programs designed to monitor and update budgets, update Change Order Logs, and publish regular Project Status Reports to Ownership and the Design Team. Our Project Managers review Payment Requisitions and forward recommendations for Architect approval and subsequent payment by Owner.
Our K-12 Project Managers are typically stationed in the field.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or applicable discipline and/or relevant experience.
- The ideal candidate will have between 5-10 years experience in the field as a Construction.
- New York State Educational Department (NYSED) K-12 projects experience working on Agency CM/Consultant or K-12 public projects valuable.
- Computer Programs: Procore, Primavera, Microsoft Project

Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; talk or hear; walk; sit. The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and/or hands; bend, kneel; stoop, crouch or crawl and climb; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time on the physical jobsite; in a construction trailer; and occasionally an office building. This position is exposed to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; and loud noises.
