Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing physical exams and patient observations.
- Recording patients' medical histories and symptoms.
- Creating patient care plans and contributing to existing ones.
- Ordering, administering, and analyzing diagnostic tests.
- Monitoring and operating medical equipment.
- Diagnosing health issues.
- Administering medicine and other treatments.
- Detecting changes in patients' health and modifying treatment plans, as needed.
- Consulting with healthcare professionals and families.
- Training patients and their families to manage and prevent illness and injury.
- Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.
- Gather health histories and perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Develop and implement treatment plans.
- Dictate and document all patient interactions.
- Notify the managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems.
- Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
Job Qualifications and Requirements
Education (Nurse Practitioner):
- Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
- RN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and board-certified by either ANCC or AANP.
- APN authorization in the state where employed to practice in family health by the Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility.
Education (Physician Assistant):
- BS/MA in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science, or Medical Science
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Experience:
- Experience providing orthopedic care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting.
- Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments, and health regimens to treat patient health issues.
- Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
- Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
- Experience in managing daily patient schedules independently.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Proven work experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy, and recovery
- Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and current standards of care
- Problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
- Caring and compassionate
- Team player with good communication skills
