POSITION SUMMARY:
As a physical therapy assistant at Georgia Bone and Joint Surgeons, this position performs a wide
variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality of care and customer
service. The employee must work collaboratively with all staff in support of direct patient services,
exhibiting flexibility and a “can-do” attitude. Patient care is the key priority in this position requiring the
physical therapy assistant to manage clinic operations to ensure provision of quality patient care,
promotion of good human resource management, optimal customer service and the achievement of
financial goals. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of our organization, always
exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs treatments, and provides exercise instruction and demonstration for patients.
- Directs and assists patients in exercise, muscles re-education, and gait training.
- Instructs patients in proper care and use of support and exercise program.
- Prepares written documentation as directed by the therapist.
- Evaluates, charts, and reports on patients’ progress.
- Performs clerical duties such as answering calls and scheduling patients.
- Maintains department policies, procedures, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Educates patients in proper care and use of supports and exercise programs.
- Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation of an approved school of Physical Therapy Assistants required.
- 1-2 years experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
- State of Georgia Physical Therapy Assistant license required
- CPR certification.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.
- Attentive to detail.
- Ability to follow up to assure customer is satisfied.

- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 70 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.
- Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
- Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
