Our client in Richmond, VA is looking for a Database Administrator to join their team. The ideal candidate is based in Richmond, VA or a commutable distance. This position is a 3 month contract to hire position.
n I. GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Database Administrator's role is to manage, integrate, and report on various database management systems and applications in a team environment.
II. REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports to the Database Administration Manager Position or designee. No positions report to this position.
III. RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :
A. Develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of database systems.
B. Implements Database Security, Backups and Upgrades.
C. Resolves database performance and capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.
D. Write Database procedural code to create new and enhance existing systems and integrate with disparate data driven solutions.
E. Participate as needed in the mitigation of systemic failures.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
A. College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or related field of study or related experience.
B. Certifications in Microsoft database Technologies like MCSA.
C. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures related to database management systems within the Microsoft platform.
D. Has knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Integration Services, Reporting Services, Active Directory, Powershell or Python, Azure SQL, REST APIs and Power BI.
E. Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
F. Strong written and oral communication skills.
G. Strong interpersonal skills.
H. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
I. Works under immediate supervision.

1. Assignments are made under the direction of a Database Administration Manager or designee.
2. Work will be reviewed and approved by a Database Administration Manager.
