Triumph is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our client in Richmond, VA. This person will maintain our client's in-house, business critical legacy applications while leading the modernization efforts using potential low-code platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure business continuity by managing existing systems and driving a structured, risk-managed transition to modern solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance legacy applications using MS Access, ASP.NET, SQL Server, VBScript, VBA and other technologies around Microsoft technologies leading all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC) or Rapid Applications Development (RAD) cycle as appropriate.
- Providing timely enhancements and defect mitigation within various Microsoft platforms while documenting existing systems, workflows, and dependencies.
- Working with end-users to identify\implement application improvements while also collaboratively defining modernization priorities.
- Provide technical leadership on analysis, design, development, and performance of systems keeping data migration strategies focused on business continuity while maintaining on-premises data security.
- Develop and implement a phased modernization strategy using low code and other latest technologies using a POC (Proof of concept) approach.
- Train and support end-users on both legacy and new applications during the transition process.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of hands-on experience in software development around various Microsoft technologies.
- 3 years' experience with MS Access databases, SQL Server and ASP.NET web applications.
- 2 years' experience with any low code platform with Microsoft Power Platform preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and maintaining applications using Microsoft technologies.
- Expert in all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and\or Rapid Application Development (RAD).
- Proven experience with MS-Access (versions 2003 or later), SQL Server (versions 2012 or later) and ASP.NET (versions 4.0 or later).
- Demonstrated competence in the following technologies:
- MS-Access, VBA, SQL Server, Transact SQL, SSIS and other related database technologies.
- Web development using ASP.NET/MVC, C#, jQuery\JavaScript and other related technologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of relational database design and n-tier architecture.
- Experience migrating legacy applications and data to modern platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 years of hands-on experience in software development around various Microsoft technologies.
- 5 years' experience with MS Access databases, SQL Server and ASP.NET web applications.
- 3 years' experience with any low code platform preferred Microsoft Power Platform.
- MS certification in related technologies e.g. on Web development and MS Power Platform.
- Understanding of business process modeling and improvement using Agile development methodology.
- SharePoint and SQL Server ETL experience.
- Knowledge regarding CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation) architecture.
- Experience with Entity Framework ORM and Power Apps or Power BI.
