Overview : The Database & Middleware Administrator reports to the Manager, IT Technology and Telecommunications and is responsible for managing Oracle, MS SQLSERVER RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) and Middleware platforms for the Client. The System Database Administrator's role is to install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. This individual also needs to ensure successful migration of databases from on-premises to Azure Cloud platform.
Essential Functions :
- Responsible for "migration" of Oracle DB to MS Azure as native services (Azure SQL / SQLMI) or IAAS implementations on AVS (Azure VMware Solution) Platform.
- Strong understanding of SQL tools such as "SSMA" and "SSRS".
- Ability to migrate code from Oracle PL / SQL to SQL SP and Functions.
- Responsible for "migration" of older SQL databases to latest SQL releases.
- Nice to have experience with Databases like Cosmos, PostgreSQL, MS Dataverse and MS Synapse.
- Self-Motivated and showcases results with minimum guidance.
- Work closely with MS support team and open SRs as required.
- Provides development and operational support for Oracle and MS SQL database systems.
- Provides technical consulting to departments in the implementation of critical business applications.
- Provide technical assistance to selected vendors in the implementation of new integrated applications.
- Help train departmental users in the use of RDMS tools and applications.
- Modify, test, and document forms, reports, and / or interface linkages as required.
- Manages the design and development of databases and related master files. Oversees contributions by Systems, Operations, and Technical Support to develop and improve databases and master files.
- Plans dataflows for new or revised databases, mapping out the 'conceptual design' for planned databases.
