The Role
Key Responsibilities :
Tax Compliance & Filings :
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage corporate income tax, sales tax, and other applicable taxes for high-volume clients or large corporate groups.
- Coordinate and assist with quarterly and annual tax filings, including managing deadlines and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Perform tax provisions and related calculations (ASC 740) for multi-state entities, ensuring proper reporting of tax liabilities.
Financial Reporting :
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for corporate clients, adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).Collaborate with auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations for tax and financial records.Maintain detailed reconciliations of corporate tax accounts, including deferred tax assets and liabilities, ensuring proper treatment and reporting.Tax Planning & Strategy :
Assist in tax planning and forecasting, identifying opportunities to optimize tax benefits, minimize liabilities, and improve overall tax strategies for corporate clients.Advise senior management and clients on the impact of tax changes, new legislation, and tax-saving opportunities.Develop and maintain tax schedules and reports to ensure corporate tax strategies are implemented effectively.Process Improvement & Systems :
Identify areas for process improvement in tax compliance, reporting, and financial systems.Utilize accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and tax-specific tools (e.g., Thomson Reuters, CCH) for efficient data entry, reporting, and tax filings.Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.Client and Cross-Department Collaboration :
Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, operations) to ensure seamless integration of tax strategies into broader business decisions.Communicate tax strategies and changes effectively with stakeholders, including senior management and external advisors.Managing High-Volume Tax Filing :
Oversee preparation of high volumes of tax returns and tax-related documents for large client portfolios or multinational corporations.Ensure timely and accurate filing of returns, particularly during busy periods (e.g., year-end, tax season).Research and Technical Guidance :
Stay updated on federal, state, and local tax regulations, identifying and interpreting changes that affect the business and its tax obligations.Provide technical guidance on complex tax issues, such as mergers and acquisitions, cross-border taxation, tax credits, and incentives.Ideal Profile
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
Certifications : CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required.
Experience :
10 years of corporate accounting experience with a focus on high-volume tax filings.In-depth experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns for corporate clients (both domestic and international).Proven track record in managing corporate tax planning and compliance across multiple entities.Skills & Competencies :
Strong knowledge of tax laws, accounting principles (GAAP), and financial reporting standards.Expertise with tax software (e.g., Thomson Reuters, Wolters Kluwer, or similar tools).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex tax and accounting issues to non-financial stakeholders.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Desired Skills :
Experience with cross-border taxation and international tax compliance.Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or similar.Experience in M&A tax due diligence and integration planning.Strong leadership abilities and experience managing teams or mentoring junior accountants.What's on Offer?
