Position Overview
Trophy Point Investment Group is seeking a Loan Workout & Special Servicing Manager to lead the resolution of complex, distressed, or non-traditional loans. This role focuses on managing loan modifications, restructures, workouts, and special asset recovery strategies to mitigate risk and maximize recoveries. Unlike traditional loan servicing, this position handles high-risk loans, delinquent accounts, and unconventional lending structures requiring specialized attention.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of loan servicing, asset recovery, foreclosure processes, and compliance regulations, with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. This position will also support special loan transactions outside standard lending structures and provide insight into legal and title-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Role: Loan Workout & Special Servicing
- Manage and resolve delinquent, high-risk, and non-performing loans through workouts, modifications, and restructuring.
- Develop and implement loss mitigation strategies, including forbearance agreements, repayment plans, and short sales.
- Oversee foreclosure and asset recovery processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and investor regulations.
- Work with legal counsel, borrowers, and third-party agencies to negotiate settlements and recover assets.
- Maintain detailed servicing records, ensuring accurate documentation of all special servicing activities.
Secondary Role: Special Loan Transactions
- Assist in structuring and executing non-standard lending transactions outside traditional underwriting parameters.
- Evaluate and manage high-risk lending opportunities, ensuring financial feasibility and compliance.
- Support underwriting for specialized loans, including creative financing and bridge loan structures.
Tertiary Responsibilities: Legal & Title Advisory Support
- Provide legal insight (in a non-attorney capacity) regarding asset recovery, contract negotiations, and risk assessment.
- Support title-related matters, including lien positioning, curative title issues, and collaboration with the title agency.
- Advise executives on risk mitigation and compliance strategies for distressed assets.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in loan servicing, loss mitigation, asset recovery, or private lending.
- Strong background in loan workouts, restructuring, and foreclosure processes.
- Experience with non-performing loans, loan modifications, and real estate-backed assets.
Technical & Industry Knowledge
- Expertise in loan servicing platforms such as Mortgage Automator and accounting software like QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Strong knowledge of foreclosure laws, loss mitigation strategies, and real estate asset management.
- Familiarity with compliance regulations (CFPB, FDCPA, RESPA, and state-specific laws).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills to resolve high-risk loan issues.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with executives, legal teams, and third-party agencies.
