Job Overview

Trophy Point is seeking an experienced Project-Based Bookkeeper for a full-time contract to assist the Accounting Manager with the transition of the company’s financial data from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting , fully compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The role will involve integrating data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) and supporting the alignment of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance during the conversion process.

Key Responsibilities

QBO Data Review : Review and clean up existing financial data in QuickBooks Online to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to the transition to accrual accounting.
Accrual Basis Conversion : Assist in the conversion of financial records from a cash-basis to an accrual-basis of accounting, ensuring GAAP compliance.
General Ledger Adjustments : Make necessary adjustments to the general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded under the accrual basis.
Reconcile Accounts : Reconcile key accounts (bank, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.) to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Month-End Close Assistance : Support the Accounting Manager with month-end close activities during the transition period, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Financial Reporting : Assist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement) under the accrual method.
Documentation : Maintain detailed records and document the conversion process to ensure transparency and audit readiness.
Compliance Check : Ensure that all accounting practices align with GAAP and comply with internal controls and policies.
Collaboration : Work closely with the Accounting Manager and other team members to ensure a smooth transition to the new accounting method.
Support Audits : Prepare reports and provide documentation for internal or external audits if required during or after the conversion.

Qualifications

Education : Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Experience :

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a bookkeeper or accountant.

Strong experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) is essential.

Prior experience in transitioning from cash-basis to accrual-basis accounting.

Technical Skills :

Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other accounting software.

Familiarity with GAAP and accrual-based accounting principles.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).

Detail-Oriented : Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies in financial records.

Organizational Skills : Excellent time-management and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Problem-Solving : Ability to identify challenges during the integration process and propose solutions to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and effective collaboration with the team.

A PLUS : Experience working with a Lending company is an advantage
