Job Title: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver
Location: Santa Ana, CA
Pay: $17.60-$20 per hour
Job Summary:
The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services to patients who need assistance traveling to and from medical appointments, therapies, and other non-emergency medical services. The driver will ensure that all passengers are transported comfortably and in compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Transport: Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare facilities.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in good working condition and report any issues to management.
- Patient Assistance: Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, including those with disabilities. Provide necessary support and ensure comfort throughout the journey. Assist patients who require wheel chair and Gurney transportation requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage and patient information, and report any incidents or delays to the supervisor.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service while communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare personnel.
- Compliance: Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies regarding transportation and patient confidentiality.
- Emergency Procedures: Follow established emergency procedures in case of adverse situations, including patient medical emergencies or vehicle breakdowns.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience in transportation, especially in a medical or caregiving setting, is preferred.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Training: CPR/First Aid certification preferred; training will be provided if necessary.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow specific instructions.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to assist patients physically and handle required lifting of wheelchairs or medical equipment.
Work Environment:
- This position will involve working in various conditions, including transportation in different weather situations, and requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate patient needs.
Compensation:
- $17.60-$20 per hour
