What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver-Warehouse Shuttle position at Tropicale Foods, Inc.?
Position Overview:
The Driver- Warehouse Shuttle is responsible for assisting in the general shipping and receiving operations of the shipping department for both the Commercial and Deliver divisions driving company truck to and from other locations for pickup and delivery of items/orders as needed. Will perform various functions in support of warehouse operation, including loading and unloading and other general warehouse duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
· Follow and enforce all safety measures and precautions and maintain an excellent safety record. This includes wearing required PPEs and keeping all required safety equipment in good condition.
· Comply with all company policies, procedures, GMPs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Aseptic Code of Safe Practices. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
· Closely follow written and oral instructions from supervisors and management.
· Complete pre-shift inspection of yard and all docks, updating yard trailer log.
· Update yard trailer log with all trailer movements
· Keep yard clear of all recyclables and waste buy loading in appropriate trailers
· Communicate with Supply Chain office the need for recyclables and waste containers to be emptied
· Complete and document trailer inspections for all incoming trailers to be used for finished goods
· Monitor all refrigerated equipment to assure functioning properly
· Monitor fuel levels of refrigerated equipment, refuel as needed
· Warehouse support including loading/offloading, covering dock, preparing kits, kit verification/transfer, cleaning and any warehouse project assigned
· Responsible for safely and efficiently moving equipment, avoiding injury and damage
· Repeatedly move and lift various objects exceeding 75lbs.
· Communicate with dock clerk and warehouse, acting as a liaison between all buildings
· Be able to verify the accuracy of materials and procedures used in the manufacturing of finished goods.
· Know and maintain Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) that comply with company standards.
· Take an active role in contributing to continuous operational improvement.
· Work in a team-based environment and communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, supervisors and management.
· Possess motivation and ability to work independently on assignments and complete assigned tasks in a satisfactory manner.
Requirements:
· Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills required to handle internal/external customer needs.
· 2-3 years driver/service experience would be beneficial.
· 24ft Bobtail Experience
· Must be able to obtain or possess a Class B or Class C Driver’s License and good driving record.
· Requires continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
· Operate forklift (certification a plus).
· Heavy lifting is required, loading and unloading.
· Must be organized, dependable and with attention to detail.
· Must be able to follow all safety rules and GMP’s.
· Maintain productivity at all times.
· Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen and background investigation
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two-three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Food Safety & Quality Requirements/Responsibilities:
· Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP’s
· Accurately completes require Food Safety & Quality Records
- Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Q.A Manager and Department Manager.
· Attends all Food Safety/Quality training sessions
· Responsible for reporting any food safety concerns or tampering with product

Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a warehouse/production environment as part of the job requirements employee may be exposed to work in a production setting and cold temperature at times. Must be flexible with work schedule that supports a 24 hour production facility. Schedule may include weekends.
