Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all facilities and equipment are maintained in good working condition. This role requires a proactive approach to facility management, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and visitor satisfaction. The Maintenance Person will work closely with other staff and volunteers to address maintenance needs promptly and effectively.
Duties
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on nature center facilities, trails and boardwalks.
- Periodically execute painting tasks to enhance the aesthetic appeal of facilities.
- Supervise and lead maintenance projects, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with visitors and volunteers.
- Maintain mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems or notify executive director when the task is beyond your capabilities and a professional is needed.
- Conduct minor electrical repairs and installations as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory and report on the status of ongoing projects.
- Maintain landscape areas, boardwalks, trails and dock area.
- Assist with habitat land management including invasive removal.
- Perform some janitorial tasks.
- Perform some carpentry such as building or installing shelfing, picnic tables, etc.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience maintenance tasks.
- Leadership skills supervising others (volunteers or community service).
- Ability to perform general maintenance tasks, make minor repairs on tractor and various equipment which includes lawn mowers, hand tools, blowers, etc..
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 16 per week
