General Purpose:
The Children’s Pastor will report directly to the Associate Pastor and will develop, grow, and oversee the Children’s Ministry department at Troy First Assembly of God through the implementation of a lively ministry strategy that inspires wonder about God and builds a rock solid foundation of faith that will last a lifetime. This is a strategic position that requires creative thinking, teaching skills, strong leadership and development of volunteers, project management, and event coordination skills.
Primary Duties:
- Strategic leadership of all Children’s ministries, including but not limited to– services, special events, teaching, discipleship, and relational community building with children, parents, and volunteers.
- Prepare engaging, vibrant, & biblically solid Children’s services & events that children are excited to attend and will allow them to experience God, not just learn about Him, in a relevant and relational way.
- Communicate with parents & families what children are actively learning and encourage participation in their child’s spiritual growth. Ensure curriculum emphasis on scripture & biblical values is communicated to parents.
- Prepare and plan accurate budgets to provide ongoing children’s services, activities, and special events.
- Prepare and lead the children in actively living out their Christian faith in their community.
- Prepare, research, plan, and execute Children’s programs & events, including but not limited to, Vacation Bible School (VBS), Christmas events, Fall Festival, and more.
- Develop a dynamic volunteer & leadership team through providing resources and training.
- Implementing appreciation and recognition strategies for volunteer & leadership teams.
- Identify upcoming talent and develop evaluation processes and onboarding procedures to prepare volunteers to join the team.
- Hold regular meetings & training sessions with the volunteer teams to assure they are growing spiritually and in their leadership skills with a focus on well-prepared and executed Children’s ministry experiences that lead children to salvation and growth in their faith.
- Design training & development materials and sessions for parents, volunteers, and team members.
- Engage & communicate with parents. Develop parent network and encourage communication, planning, involvement, support, and volunteerism.
- Coordinating with other TAG ministries and departments as needed.
- Pastoral care
- Serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and devotion to a deep-rooted prayer life.
Education and Expertise:
- Bachelor's degree in children’s ministry, pastoral ministry, theology, or equivalent preferred.
- 1 or more years of experience in Christian Children’s ministry
- Assembly of God experience & knowledge preferred.
- Experience planning and executing Children’s events & programs
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Pastoral credentials with the Assemblies of God or ability to obtain them within 2 years of accepting the position.
Work Environment:
- Flexible hours with work often completed remotely
- Weekly in-office staff meetings & occasional in-office meetings as needed
- Due to the nature of a Children’s Pastor position, evenings and weekends will be required as needed for children’s events, services, and support.
- Attendance at children’s events and church Sunday & Wednesday services required.
