What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at Troy Gastroenterology P.C?
The physicians and staff of Pinnacle GI Partners specialize in gastroenterology, which covers all aspects of the digestive system. Our specialty includes diagnostic endoscopic procedures and ultrasounds, liver disease studies, reflux diagnosis and management, and motility studies.
The ideal candidate for a Nurse Practitioner will be a certified Nurse Practitioner; have 3-5 years’ experience, preferably in GI care, and demonstrate the ability to work within a team and independently in a fast-paced office environment.
This role reports to the ACP Manager.
Essential Job Duties:
- Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team. May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. May order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and X rays. May prescribe medication.
- Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses
- Diagnose or treat acute health care problems such as illnesses, infections, or injuries
- Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy
- Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized
- Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances
- Keep and maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered
- Use and record information in Electronic Medical Records system
- Prepare and attend to all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary and appropriate to the performance of the professional services
- Ensures all documents and records are in compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Demonstrates integrity, care and compassion when working with patients, families and staff
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information as required by HIPAA; maintains confidentiality of organization by ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorized to have access
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner
- Licensed to practice medicine within the state of MI
- Must possess and maintain current and unrestricted practice and DEA license
- Must successfully pass a background check and a drug screening
