Troy Regional is seeking to fill the position of Full-Time Charge Nurse for the MedSurg Department. This position will be a Day Shift position and report to the Director of Med-Surg/ICU. This role provides leadership and support to the Nurse Director/Manager responsible for assigned nursing and other designated patient care functions/services on the medical/surgical unit. The role will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating nursing practice on a per shift basis, and unit level. The role is accountable to support nursing leadership to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.

The charge nurse must be able to relate effectively to the work done on the unit. Must be fluent in CPSI. Must be able to admit/discharge patients, including preparing documents, and consents, provide discharge education to patients and families. The charge nurse will assist with admission interviews, care plans, advance directive documentation and assist with tasks/skills as needed to support the RN/LPN function on the floor. This nurse will notify the receiving nurse of patient assignments. He/She will review provider orders for accuracy and timely implementation. The charge nurse will assist with flow of patients, assisting with discharges so that admissions can be accepted in a timely manner. The charge nurse is an extension of the Director of Med/Surg and the House SPV.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Current Alabama Nursing License, Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support card (by the completion of the ninety day probationary period.
