Irrigation Technician Job Description
The Irrigation Technician provides accurate solutions, inspects, and conducts repairs and maintenance on various irrigation systems for our clients.
The successful candidate will have strong experience troubleshooting irrigation systems and repairing laterals, heads, mainlines, backflows, timers, valves, pumps, and controllers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Load equipment, tools, and irrigation supplies according to work orders.
- Monitor inventory on the work vehicle and maintain a daily usage sheet.
- Install, program, and test timers and rain sensors.
- Repair and replace broken sprinkler heads and drip tubing.
- Replace irrigation pumps or re-plumb existing pumps.
- Locate and repair leaks; repair wiring as needed.
- Dig trenches and install pipes and lines.
- Install pumps and electrical timers.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks.
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty parts.
- Inspect irrigation systems to detect deficiencies accurately.
- Estimate repairs, upgrades, and new irrigation installations.
- Sell new irrigation systems and maintenance contracts.
- Complete progress reports and associated paperwork accurately and on time.

Technical Skills & Abilities
- Skilled in using small hand and power tools, PVC cutters, trenchers, valve locators, and specialized irrigation equipment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in conventional irrigation (experience with 2-wire systems is a plus).
- Ability to lay out work sites and interpret irrigation plans is a bonus.
- Competence in building accurate material lists for jobs.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with an excellent driving record for at least 3 years.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform job responsibilities that require physical endurance and agility.
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
