What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Materials Specialist position at Troy University?
The Assistant Materials Specialist position in AMSTI is responsible for assisting with oversight of the operations of the AMSTI Materials center; ensuring that the AIMS data for the region is accurate and up to date; assisting with supervision of workers assigned to the materials center; assisting in providing the materials, supplies, and equipment to AMSTI trained teachers as specified by AMSTI-ALSDE; training workers on correct refurbishment procedures; constructing and refurbishing math and science teaching kits; assisting with coordination of purchasing, inventory, scheduling, and distribution of science and mathematics modules and materials; communicating effectively with teachers about their materials usage and professional learning, based on information provided by AMSTI staff; assisting in organizing the materials center to ensure efficient use of space and storage of materials; assisting to provide reports to the AMSTI Site Directors of AMSTI-ALSDE regarding the teacher and materials database, material costs, distribution schedules, employee assignments, and labor hours, as requested; assisting AMSTI staff with preparation for programs and presentations, and with operation of the material center; assisting with maintaining a safe working environment; attending all required professional learning activities and staff meetings conducted by the ALSDE, unless prior approval for absence is granted by the ALSDE; and performing other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager, AMSTI Site Director, or AMSTI-ALSDE.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field, OR a minimum of two years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
1. Minimum of three years of AMSTI Warehouse experience
