What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Teacher Education position at Troy University?
The Campus Coordinator of Teacher Education position, under the direction of the Multi-Campus Director of Teacher Education, Accreditation, and Certification and the Dean of the College of Education, has the primary responsibility for serving as the liaison between the cooperating schools and the University faculty to implement arrangements for clinical experiences including Candidateship. It is the responsibility of this position to identify cooperating schools, make sure each candidate has all the necessary prerequisites, assign candidates to the appropriate subject area and/or grade level(s), and review all evaluation reports. This position is responsible for proper administration of the program that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Assisting the Multi Campus Director in providing campus leadership and direction for the program.
2. Implementing all approved standards and policies governing clinical experiences.
3. Taking applications of candidates who wish to enroll in Candidateship.
4. Surveying school systems for qualified classroom teachers to serve as cooperating teachers.
5. Collaborating with school districts for placement of candidates for internships.
6. Assisting the Multi Campus Director in developing forms and materials necessary for proper evaluation and administration of the program.
7. Maintaining campus candidate files documenting clinical experiences.
This position confers regularly with faculty in the College of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Communication and Fine Arts who have candidates requesting internship assignments and clinical experience placements. The position maintains contact and frequent communication with principals and instructional supervisors in local school systems and other selected sites.
