What are the responsibilities and job description for the International Student Advisor position at Troy University?
The International Student Advisor position in International Programs is primarily responsible for support services for current international students, including new student orientation, academic advising, housing, immigration services, health insurance, social activities, national trips and daily problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR experience in higher education teaching or administration 2. As a requirement of this job, the incumbent must have access to the Federal Government’s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), and as required by the U.S. Department of State, it can only be accessed by a U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident. 3. International exposure and/or experience working with international students 4. Strong professional desire to work with international students from multiple cultures and backgrounds 5. Strong organizational skills, patience and cultural tolerance 6. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment 7. Good communication and interpersonal relations skills
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in a related field 2. SEVIS experience 3. International student support experience through teaching, study abroad and/or administration 4. Two or more years of higher education experience
