What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Advisor position at Troy University?
The Project Advisor position for Student Support Services is responsible for serving as an academic advisor to program participants; administering and evaluating academic and needs survey assessments; creating and maintaining Individual Academic and Service Plans (IASP) on assigned participants; providing individual and group coaching in writing, math, and/or study skills; assisting participants with graduate/professional school planning; developing and conducting student development/academic/graduation workshops; accompanying program participants to cultural events; attending professional development training; and other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, social work, psychology, or related field
2. Minimum of two years of appropriate and relevant professional experience working in a TRIO federal program or similar related program/project for disadvantaged and at-risk college students
3. Experience coordinating and supervising project programming and field experiences
4. Experience advising and assisting participants with the graduate school admissions and financial aid process
5. Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants
