Job Summary: The Category Manager will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for assigned categories, managing supplier relationships, and overseeing category spend and performance. The direct materials team is currently looking for a Category Manager with a background in utilities (Electricity/Natural Gas) as well as industrial/plant scale gases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Procurement Strategies:
- Create and implement regional procurement strategies for assigned categories.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure alignment with company financial goals.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance to ensure the best value and quality for the company.
- Category Spend and Performance Oversight:
- Monitor and analyze category spend.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement strategies.
- Market Analysis and Intelligence:
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and supplier capabilities.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on market analysis.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure procurement strategies align with business objectives.
- Collaborate with other procurement team members to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on utilities (Electricity/Natural Gas) and industrial/plant scale gases.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in SAP and other procurement software and tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the chemical or manufacturing industry.
