JOB SUMMARY:
The principle responsibility of the Simulator Technician is to ensure item completeness, accuracy, and conformance with designs, standards, and specifications. The preferred candidate is a highly motivated, self-driven team player who can perform complex mechanical and basic electrical tasks and can perform effectively in a dynamic production environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble/install simulator chassis, frames, panels, mechanical assemblies/sub-assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies/sub-assemblies, cables, systems, etc., external to and within simulators, per engineering drawings, parts lists, and work orders.
- Install, test, troubleshoot simulator mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Read engineering blueprints and perform assembly in a build to print environment.
- Recommend system/document improvement.
- Assist engineers with system commissioning.
- Generate discrepancy and status reports and correct discrepancies.
- Support simulator teardown and install at customer sites worldwide.
- Communicate issue mitigation options and recommendations.
- Provide maintenance and technical support for simulators in training.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
- Associates degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with subassembly and installation of mechanical assemblies required.
- A&P/Auto mechanic experience preferred.
- Machining experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred knowledge of flight simulator systems, components, and installation methods.
- Basic computer skills.
- Advanced operation of hand and power tools (drills, grinders, punches, measurement instruments).
- Read and understand assembly drawings, parts lists, wire lists and system prints.
- Lift up to 50lbs with assistance.
- Install, test, and maintain components located in tight locations within the simulator.
- Work both independently and in a team environment as needed.
- Obtain certification and operate forklift.
- Must be flexible to work all required shifts and travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel, as needed.
- Must have strong communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to obtain a security clearance required.
