Parts Counter Sales

The Front Parts Counter Sales Person will assist in making the Parts Department a profitable center by focusing on providing excellent customer service using established customer sales standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional and efficient manner
• Looking up parts for heavy-duty truck, light-truck, light-duty automotive accessories, light trailer or heavy-duty trailer
• Use vendor or distributor sites and catalogs to properly look up replacement parts for customers
• Utilize computer and catalog to determine part number and price.
• Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials and ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line
• Inform customer on substitution or modification of part when identical replacement is not available
• Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information
• Pulls and fills orders from stock
• Notifies store manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention
• Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary
• Notifies the customer when special ordered parts have been received
• Follows up on back-ordered parts
• Verifies will-call and back-order tickets daily and returns to vendors, or stocks those items not picked up or required
• Assists outside sales representatives with their orders
• Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization
• Ensures that the customer signs all sales invoices
• Ensures that all customers receive their copy of the invoice
• Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified
• Keeps front counter areas clean and uncluttered
• Participates in all training programs that are made available
• Keeps current on new products and product updates
• Participates with the parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program
• Maintains professional appearance
• Complete training requirements for the parts department
• Attend scheduled parts meetings
• Other tasks as assigned

Education

• High School diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills with fundamental computer operations, spreadsheets, database, and e-mail
