Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is recruiting for a Construction Project Coordinator 2 in the Facilities Operation and Capital Planning Department. This position will coordinate all phases of building design & construction, renovations, and maintenance projects, as well as event and move coordination. Construction coordination includes but is not limited to: develop project scope with customers, coordination of design meetings with architects, engineers, contractors and customers, design review, verify code compliance, permit review, bidding, scheduling, inspections, quality control, change order review, pay request review and verification, and project close-out.
Working under the direction of the TMCC Project Manager, the Construction Project Coordinator 2 is expected to take initiative in driving projects from inception to completion while maintaining clear communication on budget, schedule, and scope changes. Additional duties include document management, building code review, coordination of campus design elements, AutoCAD drawing revisions, sign creation, and participation in committees. This position demands strong problem-solving skills, the ability to facilitate open dialogue, and a strategic approach to resolving challenges.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical school with major coursework in architecture, engineering or related field and two (2) years of building construction experience, one year of which included a broad range of construction coordination work involving plumbing, heating and electrical systems, air conditioning systems, earthwork and landscaping, requiring the review and interpretation of construction contracts and plan specifications, building codes, architectural drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with plan design, specifications and contract agreements; OR
- One (1) year of experience as a Construction Project Coordinator I in Nevada State service; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
This position requires lifting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and moderate walking and climbing of stairs and ladders.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 35
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
