Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is looking for an enthusiastic and service-oriented Library Technician 1 to join our dynamic Library Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative environment where you will support students, faculty, and staff in accessing essential academic resources.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual with strong customer service skills, a love for libraries, and an eagerness to assist students and faculty in their academic journeys. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, have excellent organizational abilities, and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide front-line library assistance, helping students and faculty locate resources and navigate library services.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including checking materials in and out, maintaining patron records, and assisting with interlibrary loans.
- Assist with technology and digital resources, including online databases, research tools, and library systems.
- Help organize and maintain the library collection, including shelving, inventory, acquisition, and copy/original cataloging tasks.
- Support library events, workshops, and student engagement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with librarians and staff to ensure smooth daily operations and an exceptional user experience.

Required Qualifications
- This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of customer service experience in a library or other cultural heritage institution; OR
- One (1) year of experience as a Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a library setting.
- Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS) and digital research tools.
- Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Original cataloging experience.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27 (Step 01, $22.13/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
