Why You’ll Love This Role:
As Project Director of Restoration, you’ll play a vital role in preserving and restoring land throughout the middle Truckee River watershed. You’ll oversee 6-10 projects each year, working directly with partners, landowners, and stakeholders to see them through from concept to completion. Whether securing funding, managing complex land-use constraints, or coordinating large-scale restoration, you’ll have full project ownership—and the satisfaction of seeing tangible results.
Plus, you’ll have a direct impact on local and regional policies by assisting decision-makers and managing the Adopt-A-Stream volunteer program.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead 6-10 restoration projects annually, from concept to adaptive management.
- Build and maintain partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Secure environmental compliance, project funding, and partnership agreements.
- Oversee project budgets, contractual agreements, and overall project coordination.
- Drive public outreach efforts to engage the community and amplify our mission.
- Take charge of the Adopt-A-Stream program, cultivating volunteer engagement.
- Influence local and regional policy discussions to further our mission.
Who We’re Looking For:

- ed Fundraiser: You’ve successfully secured at least $2.5M in funding over the last five years (or equivalent in a private or government role).Stron
- g Communicator: You’re confident speaking, presenting, and writing to advocate for projects and policy initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resources management, conservation, or related field.
- 10 years’ experience in land conservation, ecosystem restoration, or rural land development.
- Successful completion of at least three large habitat restoration projects.
- Experience negotiating agreements, managing budgets, and leading teams.
- Proven fundraising experience or equivalent financial success in a similar sector.
- Competitive salary range of $87,000 - $97,000, based on experience.
