What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Technician position at Trucking Edge?
Our Diesel Technicians are responsible for the assembly, set-up, maintenance, and repair of all types of equipment to ensure they operate safely and at optimum efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all company safety and maintenance policies; including but not limited to the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established best safety practice
- Diagnose cause of most malfunctions and perform repairs per OEM guidelines
- Doing preventative maintenance repairs—like replacing or rotating tires—and completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
- Understand and follow safety procedures.
- Perform projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred. Vocational school or other welding training preferred.
- 3 years of related experience required.
- Ability to weld, fabricate, and repair a variety of metal work.
- Knowledge of tools and methods of the welding trade.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and technical manuals.
- Ability to perform minor repair and maintenance on a variety of diesel-powered equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions; function effectively as part of a team; ability to work under pressure; communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, take initiative, and problem solve while maintaining attention to detail.
