We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team at Trucordia. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial insurance products and possess the ability to assess risk, make informed underwriting decisions, and build strong relationships with agents and clients. As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing insurance applications, determining appropriate coverage, pricing, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team at Trucordia. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial insurance products and possess the ability to assess risk, make informed underwriting decisions, and build strong relationships with agents and clients. As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing insurance applications, determining appropriate coverage, pricing, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal commercial lines insurance policies, including general liability, property, workers' compensation, professional liability, commercial auto, and more.
- Work closely with insurance agents, brokers, and clients to gather necessary information and clarify underwriting requirements.
- Ensure all underwriting documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and assess the profitability of accounts, recommending rate adjustments, risk management initiatives, and coverage changes to mitigate potential losses.
- Ensure that all underwriting activities comply with applicable insurance regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Identify and recommend risk management strategies to minimize the likelihood of claims or losses.
- Collaborate with colleagues in claims, risk management, and other departments to ensure a seamless process for underwriting, policy servicing, and claims resolution.
- High School Diploma
- Valid Texas Property & Casualty Insurance License
- Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)
- Minimum 3 years commercial underwriting experience with emphasis in Construction (GL, XS, Related Property) and Property/Package targeting small to mid-size risks.
- Prior MGA\MGU experience with an emphasis on binding authority contracts.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of insurance products and usages, rating procedures, underwriting procedures, coverages and industry operations to effectively secure new business and maintain an existing client base.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Technical proficiency with company rating systems and Microsoft suite platforms.
