Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Field Superintendent to oversee on-site operations and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of commercial construction, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage crews, subcontractors, and logistics effectively.
Key Responsibilities
On-Site Leadership & Team Management
- Adhere to TRUE’s company Core Values, Plumb, Level, Square, and Straight
- Provide proactive leadership and supervision to construction crews, subcontractors, and other personnel.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, accountability, and the highest performance.
- Ensure optimal use of labor, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency.
Project Coordination & Execution
- Work closely with Project Managers to interpret plans, specifications, project requirements and timelines.
- Coordinate daily construction activities to align with project schedules, budgets, and scope.
- Anticipate potential challenges and proactively implement solutions.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Enforce strict quality control standards, ensuring all work meets or exceeds project specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections and promptly address quality concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
Safety Oversight & Risk Management
- Implement and enforce job site safety policies to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and training to reinforce safe work practices.
- Promptly address and resolve any safety concerns or violations.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Oversee subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project objectives, quality expectations, deadlines and TRUE’s General Condition Requirements.
- Review, approve, and track subcontractor work and invoices.
- Address and resolve performance issues as needed.
Schedule & Budget Adherence
- Continuously monitor project timelines, minimizing adjustments as needed to meet deadlines.
- Identify and mitigate potential delays to keep the project on schedule.
- Work within budget constraints, minimizing waste and optimizing resource allocation.
Materials & Logistics Coordination
- Manage the procurement, delivery, and storage of construction materials.
- Ensure proper handling and placement of materials to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Oversee job site logistics, optimizing movement and space utilization.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing regular progress updates.
- Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors to ensure project success.
- Manage client expectations and proactively resolve concerns.
Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution
- Identify potential obstacles and implement effective solutions to keep the project moving forward.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and other key stakeholders to resolve challenges efficiently.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, progress logs, change orders, submittals and as-built drawings.
- Ensure timely communication of critical information to the project team.
- Address and resolve any discrepancies in documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or 20 years of experience in commercial construction in lieu of a degree).
- Proven experience (5 years) as a Field Superintendent in commercial construction.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in construction management software and digital reporting tools is a plus.
