About the Role :
As a Community Impact Specialist , your primary focus will be on coordinating Financial Education programs and community engagement projects for our members in Jackson and Ingham counties in Michigan. You will play a key role in developing partnerships with community organizations, non-profits, colleges, and educational partners You'll also support our credit union's community impact pillar teams, assisting with events, strategies, and charitable giving.
The Community Impact Specialist position is a hybrid position and is expected to be in the office or at an event 3 days a week. The hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 : 00 - 5 : 00, with flexibility for nights and weekends to cover events. This hourly position offers $25.38 - $33.94, depending on experience.
The ideal Community Impact Specialist will develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, non-profits, educational partners, and our members to foster engagement. This person would also collaborate with the Director of Community Partnerships and Community Impact teams to develop new programs that align with the credit union's strategic goals, including an annual Financial Education plan. And don't forget assisting with the interviewing and hiring of Financial Education staff when needed.
We're looking for someone who has 2-4 years' experience in community engagement, financial education, or a related field. We would prefer that you have a 4-year degree.
It's also important that you have strong public speaking and presentation skills with a knowledge of financial education. Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software products is needed, along with being comfortable with social media, smart phone applications, iPads, and technologies commonly used by community and school partners. And please have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
Certifications / Other Requirements :
- Must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, proof of insurance, and a dependable vehicle.
- Ability to travel for work-related purposes.
- Willingness to train and obtain a Financial Counselor Certificate.
- Ability to assist other credit unions in starting student credit union programs.
- Participation in credit union activities, social functions, and financial education initiatives is expected.
