GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The shipping dispatchers are responsible for running the dock, checking-in trucks, coordination of loading, generating BOL’s making sure loads are loaded correctly and dispatching local pick-ups and deliveries. The dispatchers are also responsible to ensure that the loaders follow all required processes and procedures given to ensure the orders loaded as specified.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make sure that they issue truck drivers check-in sheets and that all information is filled out clearly
- Enter correct information in Famous at the check-in level as well as any other comments and notes needed
- Coordinate the loading of all trucks by their schedule appointments and / or priority from sales
- Communicate any issues (product) to sales if and when they arise on orders
- Must hi-lite and communicate any special instructions to the loader prior to loading
- Make sure that all information is documented on the pick-ticket to assure that everything was loaded correctly
- Assure that all truck drivers sign for their BOL’s
- Make sure that all manifests are reconciled, scanned, copied or faxed on a daily basis
- Assist with answering phones and assisting truck drivers with any questions that may arise as well as with brokers and sales
- Must make sure that all / any special instructions on orders or procedures are followed through
- Must make sure all orders comply with any requirements needed by any government entities like border crossings which include phyto’s, lab results etc.
- When management is not on site the dispatchers assume control of the dock to a certain limit to make sure the dock keeps on running
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPIERENCE
- High School diploma required. Minimum 1 year of any distribution function required, previous dispatch experienced preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office software
- Experience and proficiency in database software a plus
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- Famous software knowledge a plus
- Team player who will exceed assigned responsibilities and assist others to reach objectives
- Strong oral and written communication skills to deliver technical information in an easily understood manner across all departments
