The Claims Specialist will actively manage moderate to intermediate claims for clients, ensuring a thorough understanding of the claim presented, contracts, case law, and jurisdictional nuances. This role involves analyzing claims data to determine loss trends and assist in loss prevention, facilitating claim reviews, client meetings, and vendor visits, and assisting clients in properly determining coverage.
Essential Job Functions:
- Proactively communicate the status of claims and advocacy efforts to our clients and insurance carriers
- Ability to collect information and document in our agency management systems
- Provide assistance and work collaboratively with client to accurately prepare claims documentation
- Educate clients on the claims process for all types of claims
- Actively manage moderate to intermediate claims for clients
- Research and understand the claim presented, contracts, case law and jurisdictional nuances
- Analyze claims data to determine loss trends and assist in loss prevention
- Facilitate claim reviews, client meetings and vendor visits
- Assist the client in properly determining coverage
- Complete onboarding of new clients or changes to existing client insurance programs to ensure proper awareness of claims requirements and to create transparency with expectations
- Review claim status, action plan and reserves using your prior claims expertise to achieve a desirable outcome for all parties involved
- Deliver service levels to clients in accordance with agency standards
- Participate in training and meetings in order to better assist external and internal clients; may require up to 10% travel
- Increase industry and job knowledge as measured by attendance at continuing education, attaining or updating designations, and participation in other agency training offerings

Credentials:
- A High School diploma or GED is required, with a two or four-year degree preferred
- Two years of work experience in a claims role is preferred, along with prior experience with multi-lines commercial coverage
- CPCU, AIC, or SCLA designations are preferred.
- A Commercial Property & Casualty license is not required at the time of hire but must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment
- A minimum of seven years of sales experience in a service industry and/or specific insurance industry experience is required

Flexibility and focus are required to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing circumstances. The candidate should also have strong influence and negotiation skills to advocate effectively for clients, maintain a positive attitude, and deliver exceptional service.
