TrueNorth is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Safety and Loss Control Specialist to join our team in either our West Des Moines or Cedar Rapids office. In this role, you will guide clients in establishing and maintaining a customized "Culture of Safety," helping them transform workplace behavior, enhance productivity, and reduce risks through tailored safety programs, data-driven insights, and impactful training initiatives.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Conduct on-site consultative visits with clients to assess safety culture and program strengths and weaknesses, and lead program implementation while educating on the value of a “Culture of Safety.”
  • Develop and customize safety programs, defining processes for leadership and employees, and defining, measuring, and managing ongoing safety initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze data (claims, compliance, safety, telematics) to identify trends and recommend additional training procedures and safety measures to reduce operational risks.
  • Create and / or modify training materials (PowerPoints, handouts, employee communications) and provide educational resources to drive behavior change.
  • Schedule, plan, and deliver educational seminars onsite and via webinars, and facilitate training and meetings to support internal and external clients.
  • Partner with production teams to create and present client proposals, document client communication, and communicate follow-up plans to involved parties.
  • Complete Stewardship Reports to provide clients with feedback and propose action plans aligned with their strategy and goals.
  • Coordinate and communicate plans with carrier loss control partners, maintaining strong interpersonal skills when interacting with executive board members.
  • Travel (25%-50%) to support client initiatives, visit key prospects, build carrier relationships, and attend industry events or trade shows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Credentials :

  • A four-year degree preferred, in Risk Management, Occupational Safety, or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in risk management and workplace safety required
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and MSHA is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license is require
  • Maintain knowledge of industry, government requirements, and tools and resources available to assist clients with safety and culture programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic PowerPoint functions
  • Skills :
