Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized biller to join our psychotherapy practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accuracy in medical records, and facilitating timely collections. This role requires a strong understanding of behavioral terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures to support our healthcare operations effectively. You will be working closely with both the practice owner and the practice office manager to ensure that all insurance related tasks are completed timely and accurately.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit behavioral health billing claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review and verify patient information and insurance details to ensure proper billing.
- Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems for accurate diagnosis coding.
- Manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on unpaid claims and outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.
- Assist in the collection of payments from patients and third-party payers.
- Prepare reports related to billing activities and collections as needed.
- Credential new employees with the various insurance panels.
Experience
- Previous experience in behavioral health billing is REQUIRED.
- Familiarity with medical records management and medical office operations is essential.
- Knowledge of behavioral health terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical collection processes is REQUIRED.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) platforms, specifically Theranest, is REQUIRED.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare staff.
