JOB DESCRIPTION:
The licensed practical nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services and supporting medical providers in delivering quality health care to patients and to support the TNR mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently and consistently use the nursing process to safely, compassionately, and efficiently care for patients
- Work closely with medical provider to assess and monitor patient needs
- Work closely with case management to ensure clients medical needs and concerns are addressed
- Administer prescribed medications and other therapeutic interventions
- Communicate and collaborate with clinical team regarding clients' medical needs and concerns
- Build and maintain a working relationship with community partner agencies
- Maintain current training and continuing education to perform duties to the highest standards of care
- Documentation and billing in EHR as indicated and appropriate
- Maintain TNR culture
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Alaska Licensed Practical Nurse License
- CPR certified or willing to become certified through an accredited program
- Experience working with patients who are suffering from addiction, depression, anxiety, and other mental health diagnosis preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to climb stairs and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population and also the ability to remain professional with both patients and staff
- Knowledge of alcohol use disorder and substance use disorder and addiction medicine
- Ability to interact with patients, families and others in an empathetic, respectful and friendly manner
- Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond to situations, crises and emergencies with critical thinking and good judgment
- Working knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and 42 CFR
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple responsibilities and tasks to completion
