Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, the Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement is integral to the continued growth and success of the Company and its ability to stand out in the marketplace. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly integrate into the organization, as well as build trust and credibility with the Executive team. In this role, the Senior Director of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement will demonstrate a strong ability to think and plan strategically, oversee the day-to-day operations of the procurement team as well as maintain productive working relationships with key suppliers and various internal stakeholders. Key responsibilities include the continuous alignment of strategic sourcing and procurement activities with the Company’s annual operating plan and overall business objectives, and the development and implementation of a more unified and strategic approach to the Company’s sourcing and procurement activities, in order to maximize customer service levels, support planned sales growth and help create a world-class supply chain. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with managing complex sourcing and procurement systems and processes, a demonstrated track record of managing and training high performing teams, and the ability to drive results through effective sourcing strategies while demonstrating strong competencies in maintaining strategic relationships, managing cost and inventory, and making sound decisions utilizing data analytics and market research intelligence.

Objectives

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs across all strategic sourcing and procurement operations.
  • Grow and / or optimize the Company’s network of qualified suppliers to ensure that the Company has consistent access to the product it needs at the most competitive prices.
  • Enhance and / or develop and implement various tools to improve demand planning, forecast accuracy, and ensure proper positioning of inbound inventory as part of an optimized and efficient distribution network.
  • Identify opportunities for the Company to leverage its unique supply chain and strategic sourcing capabilities and data as a key differentiator in serving customers.
  • Ensure sustained high performance of the Procurement team through an effective performance management process utilizing SMART goals and KPIs.
  • Ensure that the Company maintains adequate inventory of products to meet customer demand while avoiding overstocking, aged product and excessive carrying costs.
  • Ensure that products purchased meet Company specifications and standards for food safety and quality, and that they have been produced in accordance with relevant fair labor practices.
  • Foster productive cross-functional relationships internally and with trading partners to enable effective, efficient, and value-creating service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement team and oversee day-to-day sourcing and procurement operations.
  • Ensure team has clarity of roles and responsibilities, goals, objectives, and key expectations.
  • Foster customer service mentality for the team and hold accountable for delivering results.
  • Work with Sales teams and Finance to identify opportunities to mitigate financial risks and / or eliminate costs from sourcing and procurement activities.
  • Work collaboratively with key customers, as needed, to help optimize service levels, streamline data sharing, and improve visibility and timeliness of product deliveries.
  • Maintain working knowledge of key markets, commodities, and inputs, and foster efficient communication with Sales, Logistics and Finance teams to optimize the Company’s competitive position.
  • Oversee, prepare, execute RFQs and RFPs for all spend categories.
  • Continuously improve and re-evaluate purchasing activities by conducting regular spend analyses across all product categories.
  • Ensure adherence to Company policies, regulatory requirements, and relevant government reporting.

    • Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. MBA is a plus.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in global seafood sourcing and procurement or supply chain management.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Experience with supply chain systems technology, including but not limited to ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred but not required), and supply chain visibility tools.
  • Willingness to travel.
