SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Technician III is accountable for the day-to-day operations of extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on mechanical equipment and utility systems. Also is responsible for assisting and carrying out production tasks and assignments, including responsibilities in the following functional areas: Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, controlling machines and processes, inspecting equipment, structures, or material, handling, and moving objects, and performing general physical activities.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and procedures on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, buildings, production machines, and mechanical equipment, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instruction and engineering specifications, troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, and hand and power tools; examining the form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Anticipates and informs of needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Follows timely maintenance and Planned Maintenance of machinery to ensure full utilization of equipment.
- Safely fabricates, installs, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs, in part or whole, facilities heavy equipment -hydraulic systems, gear boxes and pumps.
- Utilizes miscellaneous metal working equipment and processes such as arc welding, oxygen/acetylene, MIG, TIG and plasma methods to perform welding functions in the fabrication and/or repair in part or in whole, all types of equipment mentioned above.
- Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
- Repair, maintain and rebuild pumps and liquid transfer processes for optimum operation.
- Inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.
- PVC piping, fittings, and material process or equipment repair required.
- Complies with the code of conduct and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Displays appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group setting, which positively influences co-workers.
- Assures that all work assigned to the position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions, and requirements.
- Basic troubleshoots and repairs facility electrical equipment, including single-phase AC circuits, three-phase AC circuits, and DC circuits.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree or equivalent related training with 2 years of maintenance experience.
- Exceptional professionalism, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Skilled in confidentiality and discretion, strong and effective organizational and time management skills.
- Resourceful and proactive at work.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
