What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pellet Mill Operator position at True Organic Products Inc?
SUMMARY: To monitor and optimize the pellet mill operation and aid in production tasks and assignments, that enables the manufacturing of products and/or services for customers and all executive staff members. The Pellet Mill Operator I is an entry level position requiring zero to two years of experience. Basic press operation skills are required. Advancement into Pellet Press Operator II is based on the number of years of experience and successful performance of duties and responsibilities detailed below
- Assures that all products are processed to the highest standard of quality
- Maintains good housekeeping and clean working areas in assigned work sites
- Works with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
- Wears required Personal Protective Equipment
- Safely operates the presses, forklift, and bobcat equipment
- Operates machinery at a productive rate while reducing scrap
- Identifies areas for improvement and increased efficiency; assists in implementing approved changes
- Effectively evaluates raw material inputs
- Basic pellet mill problem solving
- Properly start up Pellet Mill
- Verify order of production of product before commencing
- Ability to understand basic operation of all the pellet mill equipment (V-7, shakers, D-1, Cooler, Conveyor Belts, etc.)
- Inspect conditions of dies and rolls before starting, greases and adjusts rolls as needed
- Responsible for changing the rolls and dies
- Lifting and pushing up to 60 lbs. when doing die changes
- Monitors pellet press process for pellet quality, water intake and fines.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate presses safely.
- Adjusts equipment and process conditions as needed to achieve high product quality standards.
- Conducts daily required inspections and reports including the Dryer Temperature Production Report.
- Monitors press amps and rpms to achieve optimal product output.
- Performs preventative maintenance on presses and monitors equipment wear.
- Ability to effectively solve equipment and pellet mill breakdowns.
- Completes all required daily documentation (reports, inspections)
- Cleans equipment at shutdown and verifies that all equipment is properly shut off.
- Ability to clean production building when needed (shoveling, sweeping and blowing down)
- Require the use of Radios for communications with co-worker and management.
- Continuously evaluate finished product.
