Pellet Mill Operator Job Description

SUMMARY: The Pellet Mill Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and quality control of the pellet mills and related equipment used in the manufacturing of fertilizer pellets. The operator ensures the pelletizing process is efficient, safe, and produces high-quality output while meeting production schedules and quality standards. Employees must be prepared to work long hours as needed and be willing to stay until the work is completed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adjust controls to regulate pressure, temperature, and speed for optimal performance.
• Perform routine checks to ensure equipment is running efficiently and address any operational variances.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Ability to understand basic operation of all the pellet mill equipment (V-7, shakers, D-1, Cooler, Conveyor Belts, etc.).
• Inspects conditions of dies and rolls before starting, greases and adjusts out rolls as needed.
• Ensures change out of rolls and dies as needed.
• Conducts daily required inspections and reports including the Dryer Temperature Production Report.
• Monitors press amps and rpms to achieve optimal product output.
• Cleans equipment at shutdown and verifies that all equipment is properly shut off.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Assures that all work assigned is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions, and requirements.
• Adheres to the Quality Policy, including all items assigned to this position in accordance with safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Ensure raw materials are fed consistently and efficiently into the mill.
• Identifies areas for improvement and increased efficiency; assists in implementing approved changes.
• Effectively evaluates raw material inputs, equipment conditions, and finished product output for highest standard of quality.
• Ability to work with a team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Assist in training new operators and provide ongoing mentorship as needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a strong work ethic by staying until tasks are completed.
• Complies with the code of conduct and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook.

• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational a plus.
• 1-2 years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
• Knowledge of pellet mill operation and basic mechanical troubleshooting preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Ability to work independently and manager time effectively.

Salary : $18 - $20
