Role: |
|
To preserve the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. |
|
Essential Functions & Responsibilities: |
| E | 55% | Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current. Makes recommendations to charge off delinquent loans when other attempts to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. |
| E | 20% | Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Follow up on arrangements to ensure credit union's collateral is protected. |
| E | 10% | Maintains accurate notes, files and reports on all collections activity. |
| E | 5% | Assists employees with member problems and performs other duties as assigned. |
| E | 5% | Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans. |
| N | 5% | Other duties as assigned. |

Performance Measurements: |
| 1. | To maximize the collection and/or recovery of credit union assets from delinquent or charged -off loans. |
| 2. | To maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity. |
| 3. | To insure that collection activity is both within credit union policy and all relevant regulations. |
| 4. | To identify and inform management of potential underwriting problems. |
| 5. | To offer/provide assistance in setting up a budget for the member. |
| 6. | To stay current and comply with all federal and state regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and all credit union policies and procedures. |

Knowledge and Skills: |
|
Experience | One year to three years of similar or related experience. |
|
|
Education | A high school education or GED. |
|
|
Interpersonal Skills | Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. |

|
Other Skills | Communication skills, both verbal & written. Good judgement and analytical skills. |
