The Food Safety and Quality Control Sanitation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all sanitation processes and practices meet the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that food products are produced in a hygienic environment, meet regulatory requirements, and comply with company policies. The coordinator will monitor daily sanitation procedures, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with food safety standards to guarantee that the final product is safe for consumers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety protocols, sanitation processes, and quality assurance programs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Sanitation Management :
- Develop, implement, and maintain sanitation procedures for all production areas, and storage areas.
- Monitor sanitation activities to ensure compliance with both internal and external food safety standards, such as FDA, USDA, GMP and HACCP.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.
- Oversee the proper use of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Food Safety Compliance :
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations, including FDA, USDA, GMP and HACCP requirements as well as SQF requirements.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of sanitation programs, including allergen control and pest control.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits and recommend corrective actions to address any food safety concerns.
- Stay up to date on industry regulations and best practices, ensuring the company’s sanitation / pest control program evolves with current standards.
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards in relation to sanitation activities.
- Quality Control :
- Perform daily pre-operation inspection of food processing areas to identify any areas of concern regarding cleanliness or sanitation practices.
- Review production lines and equipment to ensure compliance with sanitation procedures and overall cleanliness.
- Implement and monitor pest control programs to prevent contamination risks.
- Collaborate with other members of FSQA to ensure microbiological testing and environmental sampling is performed as required to ensure product safety.
- Assist in the development and execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality and sanitation.
- Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints related to sanitation.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and present reports on sanitation and food safety performance metrics.
- Assist with audits conducted by regulatory agencies, customers, and third parties.
- Report findings, trends, and areas of concern to management, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is compliant with all regulatory agencies and SQF.
- Team Leadership :
- Provide coaching and guidance to sanitation staff to promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.
- Schedule and assign tasks to ensure effectiveness of the program and timely completion of sanitation activities.
- Foster a positive and productive working environment by encouraging collaboration and teamwork.
