Duties
- Lead rehearsals and performances, ensuring high-quality musical execution.
- Develop and implement educational programs that enhance the musical skills of participants.
- Communicate effectively with musicians, providing clear instructions and constructive feedback.
- Mentor and guide musicians, fostering their development through personalized coaching.
- Collaborate with other artistic staff to create cohesive programming that aligns with the organization’s mission.
- Select repertoire that challenges musicians while being appropriate for their skill levels.
- Organize auditions and assess the skills of potential new members.
- Maintain an inclusive environment that encourages participation from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in music direction or conducting, preferably in a similar setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Excellent communication skills to convey musical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience in mentoring musicians, with a focus on skill development and personal growth.
- A deep understanding of various musical styles and genres.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of different learners.
- A degree in music or a related field is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.
