The Family Practice Physician plays a vital role in providing comprehensive medical services for members of families within their scope of training. This includes preventative care, immunizations, primary care and treatment, prescribing of medications, ordering and interpreting lab testing and physical examinations.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Provide routine, acute, urgent, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative medical care to members of families, within the approved skills profile and/or scope of practice.
- Take detailed histories and perform complete physical examinations.
- Order or execute various tests, analyses and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
- Analyze reports and findings of tests and examination and diagnose condition of patient.
- Making diagnoses (or differential diagnoses if a specific diagnosis is pending) for each patient, educate the patient and parents on the diagnosis, and institute treatment and follow-up care based on current standards of care, official guidelines, and evidence based medicine.
- Administer or prescribe appropriate pharmacological agents and treatments.
- Discuss any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patient.
