Job Responsibilities
The Lactation Consultant adheres to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) scope of practice. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing breastfeeding and nutrition counseling and education to WIC participants and TrueCare patients.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of breastfeeding education components of programs.
- Determining client eligibility and implementing WIC Program services for eligible participants.
- Supporting manager by providing leadership to staff and acting as lead in absence of manager.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- At least one year WIC experience
- General knowledge of Spanish, and willingness to learn to counsel in Spanish
