Job Summary
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in need, including the elderly and those with disabilities. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being. The PCA will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in various settings, including homes, clinics, and hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Personal Care Assistance:
o Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
o Help clients with mobility, including transferring from bed to wheelchair and assisting with walking or using mobility aids.
· Companionship:
o Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, engaging in conversation and activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
o Offer support in maintaining social interactions and participation in community activities as appropriate.
· Household Support:
o Assist with light housekeeping tasks including meal preparation, laundry, and cleaning.
o Ensure the client’s living environment is safe and tidy.
· Medication Reminders:
o Remind clients to take their prescribed medications as directed, and assist with medication management if necessary, following specific instructions provided by healthcare professionals.
· Monitoring and Reporting:
o Observe and report any changes in the client’s physical or mental condition to the supervisor or healthcare provider.
o Maintain accurate records of services provided, including daily activities, observations, and any incidents.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe environment for both clients and caregivers.
o Adhere to agency policies and state regulations regarding client care and confidentiality.
Skills
