What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skilled Laborer position at Trueline Infrastructure Solutions?
The Skilled Laborer supports a crew for large-scale projects with an emphasis on construction. This position is familiar with preparation, methodology, tools, and safety related to the placement of fiber for a variety of projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and identify materials, machinery, or tools and distribute to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, rakes, etc.
- Erect or dismantle shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.
- Assist other workers, supervisors, and operating foremen.
- Pour concrete, use of tools including saws, hammers, nails, bolts, etc.
- Promotes a ‘safety first’ attitude and ensures strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
- Other projects or duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of underground utilities and other structures.
- Experience in preparing, mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete.
- 1 year experience in the construction industry, preferably operating construction equipment.
- Pipe laying, underground utility, and/or heavy equipment operation experience required.
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required; class A driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to work after hours, some weekends, and evenings when needed.
- Ability to relocate or travel to project locations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling of materials up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
