SUMMARY
Helps serve as the “voice of the organization” to current and future donors, volunteers, advocates, etc and present TrueNorth as an impactful community asset through written communication. Creates donor/prospect communication programs, and develops and executes marketing initiatives that effectively describe and promote the organization and its programs that include direct mail fundraising appeals, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, fundraising events, print and digital newsletters, online donation pages, donor acknowledgments and stewardship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Raise the bar continually for writing fresh copy that connects with a desired audience and drives action
- Increase fundraising revenue by attracting and retaining donors through storytelling
- Develop, implement and evaluate strategies that lead to sound donor cultivation, prospecting, solicitation, acknowledgment and stewardship
- Combine marketing and communication skills to use multiple tools to enhance brand loyalty of target audience
- Understand organizational impact on program participants through research and interview to communicate their story effectively
- Plan, develop and produce donor-centric fundraising appeal copy; work with Communications Department on the design, production, printing and mailing of appeals
- Coordinate fundraising messaging throughout various platforms including print, email, website, social media, etc in partnership with Communications Department
- Enhance online donation experience
- Enhance issues based blog
- Works collaboratively with multiple departments to manage project workflow, including assessing new project requests, building timelines, tracking milestones and deliverables, communicating status updates to team members and stakeholders
- Strengthen project management tools and processes to deliver outstanding communications pieces on time
- Assist in the development and execution of fundraising event marketing, messaging and speech writing
- Enhance donor acknowledgment letter messaging
- Stay current on communications and philanthropic trends
- May foster relationships with constituents
- May take a lead role in the development of fundraising events
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

- High proficiency with computers and programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google products; graphic design experience is preferred
- WordPress website and email marketing experience preferred
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to maintain agency confidentiality
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications or related field
- Experience in copywriting and editing

The primary office is located at TrueNorth Community Services, 6308 S. Warner Avenue, Fremont, MI 49412. While performing these duties, the employee is expected to work:
- On site at 6308 S. Warner Ave, Fremont, MI 49412 but will be required to travel to diverse business locations.
Onsite work will be in an office/workspace with a moderate noise level for an office setting and participant, child, and staff distractions.
Other work environment issues include:
- This position may need to work outside in cold/wet/snow/ice/heat/humidity/wind or other adverse weather conditions
- This position may be required to represent TrueNorth at various locations including but not limited to local businesses, community organizations and inside participant homes.
