The Director of Production Operations oversees the Production Department within TrueSense Marketing. The position is responsible for both short- and long-term production strategy planning, ensuring that the most current and efficient production strategies are in place. The position also manages the staff and systems of the Production Department; oversees information and cost management; and develops, maintains and enables processes and policies consistent with company interests.
Essential Functions:
- Leads and manages both the Print Purchasing and Production Coordinator teams.
- Collaborates with the Senior Data Programmer to ensure quality and process during sign-off and set up stages of print production.
- Develops and implements strategies to optimize production workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Oversees daily production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products to meet customer expectations.
- Monitors production metrics, analyze performance data, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborates with design, procurement, and sales teams to align production capabilities with business objectives.
- Provides strong leadership to production managers, supervisors, and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Communicates clear goals and expectations to the team and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
- Ensures all products meet or exceed quality standards, implementing quality control processes at every stage of production.
- Addresses production challenges or defects promptly to minimize disruptions.
- Promotes a safe working environment by enforcing compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Develops and manages the production operations budget, identifying opportunities to reduce expenses and improve profitability.
- Approves purchases of equipment, materials, and supplies needed for production.
- Oversees maintenance and upgrades of machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
- Oversees the production activities of the agency’s clients, primarily direct mail, including: estimating, scheduling, project management, vendor management, pre-press, printing/personalization and letter shop services.
- Collaborates with agency leadership to recommend best production solutions, prepare schedules, estimates and production workflow.
- Monitors, assesses and reports production issues/challenges to supervisor.
- Manages the process for all outsourced production jobs (outside of MSP).
- Acts as the agency resource for production issues and questions.
- Attends weekly Operations status meeting.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; an MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.
- 10 years of experience in production management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the print manufacturing industry preferred.
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of print manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in production planning software and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and safety regulations.
