Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced marketplaces expert to help grow our presence in various online marketplaces. In this role, you’ll report directly to the VP of Ecommerce and provide support to our marketing and operations teams with the goal to profitably expand Truewerk’s brand presence to reach a new generation of trade professionals.

The Director of Ecommerce Marketplaces will lead and grow our marketplace business across Amazon, Walmart, and potential expansion opportunities. This person will be responsible for driving revenue, profitability, and operational excellence across all marketplaces, overseeing the end-to-end marketplace strategy, execution, and optimization. They’ll work closely with our agency partner to ensure flawless day-to-day execution and effective implementation of our marketplace strategy.

The Director will be responsible for the performance of the marketplace business, leading cross-functional collaboration to scale operations, enhance customer experience, and improve performance metrics. This individual must be an expert in marketplace best practices as well as being passionate about data-driven decision-making to maximize growth opportunities.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the performance of the marketplace business, managing revenue, profitability, and operational efficiencies that deliver against annual sales and ROAS goals.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across sales, advertising efficiency (ROAS, CPC, CPS), contribution margin, and operational performance.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for Amazon, Walmart, and other emerging marketplaces, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall ecommerce vision.
  • Define short-term and long-term growth plans by leveraging data, insights, and market trends to deliver against goals.
  • Identify new marketplace opportunities and build a roadmap for expansion.
  • Partner with Finance, Performance Marketing, and leadership to develop monthly revenue forecasts across demand, advertising spend, and customer types.
  • Oversee listing optimization, pricing strategies, and inventory management for both Amazon and Walmart.
  • Manage relationships with Amazon and Walmart account managers to stay ahead of platform updates and strategic opportunities.
  • Partner with Marketing, Demand Planning, Operations, and Customer Experience teams to drive an integrated and cohesive marketplace strategy.
  • Work closely with supply planning and fulfillment teams to optimize inventory planning and ensure best-in-class customer experience.
  • Develop and implement data-driven reporting frameworks to inform decision-making and executive updates.
  • Work closely with our existing agency partner to optimize both the media and retail aspects of the business, while overseeing Amazon Advertising (AMS) and Walmart Connect strategies, optimizing campaign structures to improve efficiency and maximize ROI.
  • Connect in-house and agency creative teams to ensure seamless content creation for both Amazon and Walmart that meets Brand guidelines and design system requirements.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of ecommerce and marketplace experience, with a strong track record of growing and scaling marketplace businesses
  • Deep expertise with any of the following: Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Advertising, Walmart Marketplace, and/or Walmart Connect.
  • Strong experience in managing marketplace performance, with a data-driven approach to driving revenue and profitability.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute marketplace strategies, optimizing product assortment, and promotional planning.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating across demand and supply planning, marketing, customer service, and operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and preferred experience with tools such as Excel, Amazon Seller Central reports, and Walmart Seller Center reports.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience managing vendor and platform relationships.
  • Experience with 3P logistics, fulfillment models (FBA, WFS, and 3PL), and inventory forecasting is a plus.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $145,000
