What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Specialist position at TruGrocer Federal Credit Union?
Purpose: The Member Service Specialist will open new accounts for members as well as promote financial well-being through engaging members in meaningful conversations and provide focused solutions to financial inquiries. They will provide member-focused opportunities that give members added value to their relationship with the Credit Union; always focused on fast, friendly service and providing members financial literacy.
Responsibilities:
- Cross-services accounts as appropriate.
- Researches and solves problems related to deposits, withdrawals, statement inquiries.
- Assists other staff with cash and check balancing as needed.
- Answers IRA-related questions and processes IRA withdrawals, rollovers, and transfers.
- Manages vault by balancing, retrieving and replenishing cash.
- Opens new accounts and completes basic account maintenance, gathering necessary documentation.
- Complies with all regulations, guidelines and procedures.
- Assists members and staff with any online banking, Zelle, or bill pay concerns or questions.
- Balances cash drawer and checks deposits daily.
- Promotes teamwork and cooperation.
- Assists with all transaction requests including but not limited to deposits and withdrawals, loan payments, cash advances, and general account updates via walk-in/drive-through traffic or incoming phone calls.
- Sells VISA Gift/Travel card and movie tickets (if applicable to branch); balances sales as required.
- Opens mail and distributes it to relevant parties.
- Ensures the proper maintenance, cleanliness and security of the Branch, individual work area, desks and equipment.
- Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products, services, and promotions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Incumbent must be able to move throughout the Credit Union and perform a variety of physical activities to accomplish the goals of the Credit Union. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, open fire-proof filing cabinets and lift up to 45 lbs. Manual dexterity in the operation of computer keyboards is required. Working conditions are characterized in part by normal office conditions in a temperature-controlled environment sitting at a table, desk or computer terminal within a cubicle setting. Incumbent may be required to work extended hours during system problems and/or to complete special projects.
